An insecticide is a pesticide used against insects. They include ovicides and larvicides used against the eggs and larvae of insects respectively. Insecticides are used in agriculture, medicine, industry and the household. The use of insecticides is believed to be one of the major factors behind the increase in agricultural productivity in the 20th century. Nearly all insecticides have the potential to significantly alter ecosystems; many are toxic to humans; and others are concentrated in the food chain.

Danque Fever:
Dengue fever also known as breakbone fever, is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic morbilliform skin rash. In a small proportion of cases the disease develops to the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever (bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage) and dengue shock syndrome (circulatory failure).Dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquito within the Aedes genus, principally A. aegypti.The virus has four different types; infection with one type usually gives lifelong immunity to that type,but only short-term immunity to the others. Subsequent infection with a different type is believed to increase the risk of severe complications. As there is no vaccine, prevention is sought by reducing
the habitat and the number of mosquitoes and limiting exposure to bites.
Prevention and control-At present, the only way of preventing and controlling dengue virus transmission is to combat the vector mosquitoes.
-Dengue mosquitoes are water-borne insect. Properly cover the pots having water e.g. bath buckets and drums etc.
-Fumigation is necessary at all places to avoid spread of Dengue mosquitoes.
-Use of insecticides such as coil mats and sprays etc are necessary.
-People who generally sleep in an open air must use mosquito nets with their beds to prevent mosquito bites.
-Dengue mosquitoes attacks are common between 6 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 10 pm.
-Dengue mosquitoes do not bite in darkness.
-Dengue mosquitoes are born in clean stagnant water.
-Patients should use Paracetamol and avoid using Dispirin.
